The assistance is coming from EDA's Statewide Loan Pool for Business program, which "was initiated 10 years ago," according to the agency's executive director, Caren S. Franzini. "The program is targeted to small- and mid-sized businesses like QCI."
"About a year and a half ago, we began to realize that space was getting tight," says P. Michael Dobbs, president of QCI. "Our warehouse had become so packed that we felt it made our operations inefficient."
QCI's new facility is actually a 200-year-old farm with a detached modern warehouse. The property's four undeveloped acres will provide the company with expansion opportunities.
