The bookstore will open in the spring. It will neighbor a 61,417-sf Academy Sports and Outdoors store and 7,800-sf Tire Dealers Warehouse, both previously signed for the massive block of empty space by Fort Worth-based Woodmont Co. The site was one of 10 vacated in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex when the retailer declared bankruptcy in late December 2000.
"Now we will have two strong anchor tenants to add to the mix," says Woodmont assistant vice president Andrew Scroggie. He brokered the deal for the property owner while Ron White and Paul Burkhart, both of Concordia Equity, handled talks for Mardel. The 800,000-sf Lakepointe Crossing is located on the southeast corner of Interstate 35 and FM 3040 in the Vista Ridge Mall area of Lewisville.
