City officials are pushing for a 15,000-sf conference center, just north of the Bremerton Ferry terminal. It is expected to cost around $19.2 million to build. Construction should begin this summer, with the demolition of the Enetai Building, which is now home to the Bremerton Naval Museum. The hotel will be a privately funded venture.
To finance the conference center, the city will raise roughly $12 million through revenue bonds. The Kitsap Public Facilities District earmarked $6.9 million for the project, which they said must break ground before January 2003.
