On hand at the 11 a.m. ground-breaking will be Ross Perot Jr., Hillwood's chairman; Nelson Miller, distribution director for Bridgestone/Firestone Americas Holding Inc.; and roster of top elected officials. A Bridgestone/Firestone announcement also is expected to come at the morning event.
The Bridgestone/Firestone facility, going up on 36.2 acres, will employ about 200 workers at a warehouse with the distribution capacity of 750,000 tires. It will go up at 600 Gateway Parkway in Hillwood's AllianceTexas development, relatively close to the BSNF intermodal yard and a key factor in snagging the deal. Hillwood is constructing the build-to-suit.
The build-to-suit market, as everyone knows, is predicted to be the favorite development ground this year. The Bridgestone/Firestone building will be the fifth largest in AllianceTexas and second-largest, Hillwood-owned structure in the multi-municipality AllianceTexas. The building's delivery is set for October.
