Other members of the team include Denver firms of David Owen Tryba Architects, developer Continuum Partners, the landscape design firm of Civitas Inc, and the lobbying and public interest firm of CRL Associates.

Out-of-state team members include Beyer Blinder Belle, the New York City architectural team that handled the renovation and restoration of Grand Central Terminal and Ellis Island and ARUP; Parsons Brickherhoff and TransSystems Corp.

''I think we have a very comprehensive and professional team,'' Oldham tells GlobeSt.com. ''Our members have done similar projects in the same scope and complexity. At the same time, we have a lot of local knowledge, which is backed up with national and international expertise. There's a nice blend there.''

Architect David Tryba tells GlobeSt.com this project will really put Denver on the map for those interested in land use and transportation issues.

''Automobiles are great, but I'm guessing that maybe 90% of our trips in automobiles are non-elective,'' Tryba tells GlobeSt.com. ''For example, you have to drive from your home to your office each day. Or you have to meet with your clients by car. We move like rats from our homes to our work.''

The Denver Union Terminal project will ultimately serve as an intermodal facility that links all of the transportation needs of the area. The project also will include high-density housing, retail and offices and could take 20 years to complete.

''It speaks well of our state and local officials that they have a 20-year vision,'' Tryba tells GlobeSt.com. ''Most other states are letting all of this happen by chance. DIA linked this region to the world. This will link Denver to the region, and ultimately to the world.''

The importance of the DUT project can't be over-stated, he says.

''Think of when you fly into Paris,'' Tryba tells GlobeSt.com. ''You fly into the airport and it is nice and great. But it is once that you get to the train station that you know that you have really arrived.''
