But commercial design sources in Atlanta tell GlobeSt.com on condition of anonymity that fees for typical government jobs run about 1% of the total construction cost. That would place the estimated aggregate fee for the projects at $2 million.
The identical structures in Salters, SC and Bennettsville, SC will each contain an estimated one million sf among 21 buildings and house 1,152 medium security inmates and about 300 minimum security prisoners. Completion is scheduled for 2004.
Salters is 120 miles south of Downtown Charlotte and 60 miles west of Myrtle Beach, SC. Bennettsville is 80 miles southeast of Charlotte.
