The 805,000-sf garage design will feature bridges connecting to a new outpatient surgical center and an employees' parking garage. "The new parking structure will provide much needed parking space and allow us to offer visitors a convenient access" to the main campus, says George Farr, president and CEO of Children's Medical Center.
The pre-cast concrete structure is going up with a 3-inch concrete cast-in-place layer on top of pre-cast components. Site work began a few months ago and is nearing the close of the foundation work stage. Pre-cast components will be set in place beginning in March and continuing through September. Then, it's time for the electrical, mechanical and landscaping to round out the project by year's end and ready for a 2003 opening. Carl Walker Inc. is the architect on the project; McCarthy's Kevin Schmok, the project manager. Children's Medical Center of Dallas is ranked as one of the nation's Top 10 pediatric hospitals.
