The 48-year-old business and real estate consultant could have been barred from lobbying for two years, the stiffest penalty in the county's new lobbyist disclosure regulation. Commissioner Clarence Hoenstine favored the two-year ban but was convinced by the county attorney's office and other commissioners to vote on the reprimand.
In a previous letter to commissioners, Cabrera-Morris apologized for the violation and said she never intended to mislead the board. GlobeSt.com couldn't reach her at publication deadline.
Among her clients are David A. Siegel, president, Central Florida Investments Inc., the largest privately owned timeshare developer in Florida and the Allen Group, a marketing and public relations firm based in suburban Longwood, FL.
Cabrera-Morris, president of Cabrera-Morris Consulting with Downtown offices, was a staff aide to former Orange County chairman Linda Chapin in the 1990s.
Cabrera Morris is currently an appointed member of the Orange County Redistricting Advisory Committee, Orlando Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Orlando Loch Haven Park Board and the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority.
Gov. Jeb Bush named Cabrera-Morris to the transportation group last September to replace Olga Calvet of the Lynx board of directors. Cabrera-Morris' term runs to July 20, 2004.
