Under the JOA, the two newsrooms remain independent of each other.
The DNA is owned equally by the E.W. Scripps Co., which owns the Rocky Mountain News, and the MediaNews Group, which owns the Post.
The Rocky Mountain News, the oldest ongoing business in Denver, is housed in its own five-story building with almost 100,000 sf at 400 W. Colfax Ave. in the Golden Triangle neighborhood. The Post leases space at 1560 Broadway, a high-rise owned by Equity Office Properties. The Post building has 35,000-sf floorplates.
''It is no secret that we would prefer to operate out of one Downtown facility for obvious reasons,'' says Jim Nolan, spokesman for the DNA. ''The economics are favorable whether we stay at the agency-owned facility on Colfax or lease at Broadway or elsewhere. We are presently evaluating those options in light of current market conditions.''
