The 300-member Central Florida Commercial Real Estate Society is recognizing Crossman for his role in rejuvenating the 20-year-old northwest Orlando property in an affluent neighborhood at the southeast corner of Hunt Club Boulevard and Wekiva Springs Road.

Owned by local developer Korshak and Beaulieu Co., Shoppes of Sweetwater was dark in January 2001. Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. had vacated a 40,000-sf space five years ago and no one had filled that void. Eager to fill the near-vacant property, the owner was taking $10 per sf rent from new tenants until Trammell Crow was contracted to turn the property around.

"After negotiating a lease buyout with Winn-Dixie, we leased 27,000 sf to Publix," Crossman tells GlobeSt.com. The Lakeland, FL-based anchor grocer is breaking ground next month and plans to open the store by year end. That will bring the center to 100% occupancy at average asking rents of $20 per sf.

"We have leased all but one of the vacant spaces at $20 per sf or higher," Crossman says. "The neighborhood around the center has been very supportive."

The Central Florida Commercial Real Estate Society also cited Crossman for being one of the top five retail producers in metro Orlando. Also recognized for high production were Crow professionals Amy Young, Paul Reynolds, Jason Kaiser and Gregg Ickes.
