The commercial and residential realtors organization has been transitioning its data center move for several months, coming from the Fort Worth suburb of Bedford to the high-tech realm of the Infomart in Dallas. Wyndham International Inc. wrapped up its move last week. Both operations were looking to streamline and house data centers apart from main hubs, action that some in the industry are attributing in part to 9/11 fallout.
Don Frasier, co-founder and executive vice president for Collocation Solutions, says off-premise locations are in demand more so than ever before as firms seek "higher security, greater demand for network availability and a diversification of risk through multiple data center networks. Disaster recovery and data security have never been more important to the IT professional."
The North Texas realtors' group for 3,000 real estate offices has teamed the move with a re-engineering of its IT infrastructure. The group's CEO Jim Harrison credits Collocation Solutions with minimizing down time in the decommissioning of the old system and switch over to the new. The database provides up-to-date information for properties within 16,000 square miles.
The three-year-old Collocation Solutions is a privately held, build-to-suit telecommunication and data center infrastructure service provider. In addition to Dallas, the firm has operations in Austin and Las Vegas.
