The company's prepared statement says vice chairman Peter Speier will work with Studley's Southeast and Southwest regions. Seven brokers make up Studley's Atlanta office following the exodus of branch manager and top producer Neal Golden and his colleagues.

Golden couldn't be reached for comment. But Studley senior executive vice president Stephen B. Goldstein told GlobeSt.com reporter Stacey Corso last week Golden left because he sensed a potential leadership change in Studley's New York office if company founder Julien J. Studley stepped down this year at the age of 76.

Goldstein tells GlobeSt.com today the departure of the 15 brokers "surprised me, of course," but says he hopes to hire experienced professionals from the Atlanta community shortly to return the office staff to full strength. "We are committed to that market," Goldstein says.

He says he has no information company chairman Studley might be retiring from the 48-year-old company this year.

Kay Davis, second biggest producer in Studley's Atlanta office, told Corso in a telephone conversation March 27 she was resigning because she no longer agreed with several corporate decisions coming from the New York office relating to services offered to clients.

Specifically, Davis told Corso she was unhappy that Studley would no longer be providing services through Honour Inc., an Atlanta-based tenant services and construction company.

Corso's conversation with Davis was not immediately published because the reporter couldn't reach other Studley executives at GlobeSt.com's publication deadline to give them an opportunity to respond to Davis' comments.

However, Goldstein tells GlobeSt.com today Studley's relationship with Honour Inc. was awkward for Studley because Honour "had a difficult setup." He says Studley staffers will continue to provide construction and project management services at all of its 15 national offices.

In Studley's prepared statement, Speier says, "Studley has always applied a nationally integrated approach, utilizing resources from all regions to benefit our clients in specific markets." He says, "We will commit the resources necessary to continue providing innovative solutions to our clients in the Southeast."

Kim joined Studley in 1986 and was one of the company's first recipients of the Board of Directors Award for Excellence in Service for his work with national clients, according to the statement. His expertise is in strategic planning, portfolio management and build-to-suit transactions.

Lechter is a 15-year real estate professional with experience in finance, legal and marketing areas. Xcellenet and Nike are among his clients. He has represented numerous major law firms on build-to-suit and lease structuring deals.
