BorSon Construction, a large Minneapolis-based firm, did the recently completed work.The project cost about $15 million, including the building purchase.
People Serving People received long-term financing in the form of bonds issued by the city for $6.6 million. The agency is nearing completion efforts to raise more than $6 million through a capital campaign.
The organization, which bought the facility in November 1998, will change the front door to 614 S. Third St., rather than at 251 Portland Ave., its previous address.
The new venture will allow People Serving People to add programming, safety and green-space for the children. In addition, key programs and services will be added in collaboration with public and private service providers. "A Place of Hope" will also create more effective space and design use for clients, staff, and onsite service providers.
