The Houston office for Redwood City, CA-based DPR Construction Inc. has been tapped to build the structure, with delivery expected in October. DPR project manager Ron Vernon tells GlobeSt.com that the new building will mirror the campus' sole office structure, an administration facility. The campus, progressively developing, also houses a production facility.
Bayer's spokesman is traveling and could not be reached for comment. Bayer AG is a German-based health-care and chemicals group comprised of more than 350 individual companies. DPR Construction, previously contracted by Bayer, maintains a division that caters to the technologically challenging and diverse projects for the biomedical and hospital industries.
Pearson English Architectural Design Inc. of Houston is the architect for the engineering department's office building. The design calls for a brick veneer with pre-engineered metal frame. The structural engineer is Conti, Jumper, Gardner & Associates, also a Houston company.
No one is talking price due to confidentiality agreements with the pharmaceutical company. However, GlobeSt.com was told by a source that the building will cost close to $5.4 million to erect.
DPR's California division has completed several projects for Bayer at its Berkeley, CA biological products facility. The project roster includes a 110,000-sf utility, packaging and warehouse expansion plus a 2,500-sf build-out of an aseptic filling and freeze-dry facility.
