Commercial real estate professionals and business leaders have joined forces to promote the growth of Legacy Christian Academy, founded in 1999, so that schools will be closer to the mass of developing neighborhoods in the high-growth suburb. Most students on the town's west side are bused roughly 15 miles to their schools, a contact tells GlobeSt.com. The project represents the first private school north of Texas 121. The school delivers in August in time for the 2002-03 term.

The campus is starting out with a 40-classroom design and comes with all the bells and whistles for a state-of-the-art school. A second phase is planned after enrollment reaches 1,200 students. The school, operating at 8000 County Road 710, currently has 275 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12.

The ground-breaking will be attended by a bevy of officials from the school, community and Frisco government as C.F. Jordan turns the first shovel of dirt. The contractor has built more than 50 educational facilities. Jay Allison, chairman and CEO of Comstock Resources Inc., is the school board president of Legacy Christian School.
