"The sale of these two properties will enhance the Oakland Airport Business Park area by bringing new business and jobs to those sites," says Port of Oakland Director of Commercial Real Estate Omar Benjamin. "The proceeds also give the Port a greater opportunity to focus on waterfront development as envisioned in the Estuary plan."

The 14-acre parcel at Hegenberger and Pardee Roads was sold to Lincoln Property Company for $5.57 million. The 2 plus acre parcel at Edgewater Drive and Pardee Road was sold to Bay Area Veterinary Specialists (BAVS) for $1.5 million.

Lincoln Property Company plans to develop a series of buildings on the site in a business park setting. This sale was the winning proposal through a competitive bid process, sent out in February.

John Herr, the Executive Vice President and Regional Partner for Lincoln Property Company says his company "is very excited by the opportunity to develop a first class business park in Oakland, especially in this rapidly growing area."

The owners of BAVS, Doug Rohn and Elizabeth Zenger currently operate a diagnostic and therapeutic facility for animals at a leased facility in San Leandro. They plan to relocate their business to this new location that they will own. Drs. Rohn and Zenger stated, "We look forward to moving to Oakland where we will be able to build a state-of-the-art referral center. Due to this new central location, our clients will have easy access to our office and our team of medical experts for seriously ill pet-patients."
