"I had planned to buy property in the valley before being offered this position," Harris says. "I'm excited to now make my vacation home my primary residence."

Harris, a 16-year veteran in the hotel and resort industry, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the new 237-room Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, scheduled to open November 2002.

"Opening the Bachelor Gulch resort is a milestone for me personally and forThe Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co.," Harris says. "For me, it's an opportunity to use my professional skills in an environment I've enjoyed since childhood. For the Hotel Company, it marks our return to the mountains of Colorado in a way that no one has seen in years. The grand lodge design of the resort provides a unique sense of place, while offering the timeless elegance and impeccable service our guests have come to expect."

Harris began his career with Ritz-Carlton in 1989 as an assistant reservations manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead. He quickly moved up through positions in guest service, housekeeping and management. After 13 years with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., Harris returns to the US after six years with the Ritz-Carlton in Asia Pacific. Most recently he was general manager of TheRitz-Carlton, Seoul, Korea.

He has lived in a number of varied locations with Ritz-Carlton including Atlanta, Singapore, Osaka, Japan and three cities in California--Rancho Mirage, Marina Del Rey and San Francisco.

Harris now lives in Knudson Ranch between Avon and Edwards in the Colorado mountains.

A native of Massachusetts, Harris attended the School of Hotel/RestaurantAdministration at Cornell University. He has been a candidate for the U.S. National Ski Patrol the past two years and this season, worked closed withthe National Ski Patrol in Asia at the two largest resorts in Korea. In addition to sking, he enjoys whitewater kayaking, hiking and biking.

The Ritz-Carton is steps away from the Bachelor Gulch ExpressChairlift, providing ski-in/ski-out convenience in the wintertime and access to hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting and more in the summer. The property features a 21,000-sf spa and fitness center with 19 treatment rooms, more than 40,000 sf of function space and a Ritz Kids program.
