The property is close to the convergence of Interstates 29 and 94, as well as Hector International Airport.
Alloway Industries, which makes hay and forage equipment for Moline, IL-based John Deere and farm implements for Rockford, IL-based Woods, will cease production by July 31. The decision to close Alloway Industries affects a workforce of about 80 full-time employees.
Deere says it initiated the decision to close Alloway Industries by providing notice to Woods of its intention to resign from the joint venture. Deere says the action is one of several aimed at reducing the asset intensity in the company and eliminating excess production capacity.
Deere and Woods formed the Alloway Industries joint venture in 1996.
