The community and its designer, BGO Architects, shared in the accolade. The McSam Award was first awarded in 1979.

Earlier this year, Austin Ranch was named best garden community in a primary market at the annual Pillars, hosted by the National Home Builders Association. In July 2001, it was accorded a Star Award from the Texas Association of Builders.

The McSam Award comes just as Austin Ranch is poised to open its second phase. It consists of 88 townhomes, 292 lofts and 75 garden apartments. There are three swimming pools, a park, life-size chessboard, sand volleyball court and the Ravine.

The mixed-use Austin Ranch is Billingsley's first residential community. Billingsley's office, retail and residential portfolio includes 4,000 acres of raw land in and around Dallas, all ticketed for development when the time is right.
