The agreement will boost wind-energy turbine sales in the US beginning in the second half of 2003, Gamesa says. The Minano, Spain-based company also expects a new plant, which is expected to be built in Minnesota, to be ready during that time. Details haveyet to emerge about the new plant.
Gamesa will use the venture with Navitas as an entry point to the US market and plans to devote significant "management and investment" resources to the country during the next two years, the company says.
Navitas is currently developing wind-energy parks with a generating capacity of 780 megawatts and expects to add 1,000 megawatts to its capacity in selected areas, Gamesa says.
