After the 375-acre project created a public stir, Davis officials scaled back their plans to 260-acres. However, residents remain critical of the project, saying that that the project is still too big and will increase the population of west Davis by 50 percent.
The university plans were presented during public meetings this week, which will be the last public meetings before planners present their environmental reports next year.
The university planners' proposal includes a new campus, which includes a school, retail stores, a community college education center and police center. The plan also includes a housing project to accommodate the increased population. The proposed site is on campus agricultural research fields west of Highway 113.
