The big catch is Burnette, who brings along a client roster that includes Fort Worth stars, Pier I and RadioShack. Burnette holds onto the same title, senior vice president, that he had for Trammell Crow Co. at its Fort Worth office, where he was one of four senior VPs.

Trammell Crow's office director and senior VP Jim Eagle tells GlobeSt.com that he is "honored" Staubach tapped one of his team members to start its Fort Worth team. Burnette's position, says Eagle, will be "backfilled" although his shoes won't be easy to fill.

Burnette says a temporary office will be set up in the CBD. He confides that negotiations are still under way for that space as they are for a permanent location. Until the ink dries, he's not talking about the address. The office will open in two weeks, according to a corporate press release.

Burnette worked the Fort Worth circuit for Trammell Crow for three years and CB Richard Ellis for 13 1/2 years. Now, he's building a team from the ground up as he takes Staubach into a new company direction--tenant representation for industrial product, mostly the needed warehouses that feed the supply chain of the firm's retail and office clients. Burnette's team also will deliver facility and construction management and advisory services on the industrial front. As any new office leader, he's busy interviewing and selecting his teammates.

"We have opened a Fort Worth office because of our clients' increased need for tenant services without the conflict of landlord representation," Roger Staubach, chairman and CEO, said in a prepared statement. The firm had a satellite operation in the Fort Worth office of its client Burlington Northern Santa Fe.

The corporate office gets Steve Dawkins as COO of retail services. Dawkins says he brings a business savvy that looks at solutions differently because of his background. The key, he says, will be to "talk the same language" as the brokerage community, a compromise of sorts as he plots out an alignment based on product type. The end goal is to grow the regions in an integrated manner.

Dawkins was interim COO for Houston's Ransford, a strategy and executive search firm for professional services organizations. For 11 years, he was employed at Dallas-based George Group Consulting, most recently holding the titles of president and COO.
