The 20-year veteran is a prime catch, one who previously told GlobeSt.com that he was looking to manage, be a player coach and wheel and deal on the production side. The Weitzman job fulfills the wish list. Young will be overseeing general brokerage activity and coordinating project leasing with the director of leasing for Cencor Realty Services. He also is tasked with increasing brokerage presence and developing and expanding divisions specializing in income and office properties. And, he will be mentoring as he recruits for the DFW ranks. Young's multi-faceted duties will include internal and external marketing and promotion as well as pitching Weitzman to third-party owners.

Young headed up the Kennedy-Wilson office for two years and prior to that spent five years as executive vice president and managing director for Grubb & Ellis Co.'s Dallas contingent. He also was an executive VP at BEI Management Inc.

Young's split from Kennedy-Wilson was amicable, but it triggered a staff exodus as corporate downsized the team. The result was months of "who's in the news," with area brokerage houses cherry-picking the rank and file, including Young's successor. The dust settled with a key Austin exec now splitting his time between Dallas and his homeport.

Young is the president-elect of the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors and active in the Real Estate Council of Dallas, International Council of Shopping Centers, Urban Land Institute and International Development Research Council.
