The West Dallas dedication of Collins Family Center and Edmund M. and Adelyn Hoffman Campus will feature speeches by Steve Sands, co-chairman of the capital campaign; Richard Knight, chairman of Goodwill Industries of Dallas; Ed Oakley, District 6 for Dallas City Council; and Rod Ginther, Goodwill Industries of Dallas' president.

But it is Goodwill's commitment, particularly financial, with the undertaking that has the lower-income area of town feeling good as doors get ready to swing open at 3020 N. Westmoreland. The facility's service area encompasses more than 1,300 people. The metroplex's operation has 10 retail sites in Dallas, Denton and Collin Counties plus 24 donation centers with attendants in its service region.

The ceremony will be held Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The headquarters and distribution center were operating from 2800 N. Hampton Rd. in a combined 133,000-sf structure positioned on 9.5 acres. The new site spans 46 acres and has the capacity to employ 1,000, which is a target workforce for disabled residents. Corgan Associates was the architect on the project and C.D. Henderson, the general contractor.
