Count de Hoernle will sport a 3,600-sf stage and 2,500 sf of stage wing areas, and is to replace the existing 13-year-old amphitheater, which was originally built as a temporary facility. Officials of the city Community Redevelopment Agency gave their approval to demolish the older amphitheater in February of this year.
The project, which is being partially funded by a $3.8 million loan from Union Bank, is the second phase of Mizner Park's three-part upgrade. The Boca Museum of Art was created in the first phase, and a concert hall and administrative/educational facility will be developed in the third and final phase.
