Construction on the 12,000-sf CVS ramped up this week. Edwin "Buster" Freedman, United Equities' president, brokered the deal for his company while Greg Converse of Dallas handled talks for CVS Pharmacy which, as wheelers and dealers are fully aware, has hit the ground running to do its part in a pharmacy face-off dominated by Eckerd and Walgreens.
United Equities spent more than two years to put together the redevelopment plan for the corner of First Street and South Kingsley Road. The design consists of a 42,000-sf Fiesta Mart grocery and 53,000 sf of remodeled inline space to go along with the pad sites. Freedman tells GlobeSt.com that the inline space for the center, standing at 85% occupancy, will be filled in the next 90 days.
At another Garland center, MJDesigns leased 25,000 sf, marking its 10th location in the metroplex. Dallas-based Weitzman Group's Steve Lieberman and Terry Syler represented MJDesigns in the talks for the long-term lease at Broadmoor Village. Building owner KIR Garland LP handled its side of the wheeling and dealing with an in-house representative for the center at on the northeast corner of Centerville and Interstate 35.
