Like Krispy Kreme, LaMar's currently has four stores in the Denver area, but it has about 11 more in the works.
Nationally, LaMar's has 31 franchised and company-owned stores, but projects to have 1,200 stores across the country by 2010.
Joe Fields, CEO of LaMar's, already leases space in the Inverness Business Park in Arapahoe County for his new headquarters.
Fields hopes to raise about $175 million in an initial public offering in about two years for his expansion plan.
Clearly, doughnuts are big business. Last year, Americans ate 10 billion of the tasty treats. That equates to about 35 doughnuts a year for every man, woman and child in the country.
