The Omaha-based ConAgra closed the plant in December 2000, displacing 140 workers. The 7 1/2-acre holding was put on the market a month before the shutdown. ConAgra listed the property jointly with John Filli of Phoenix's NAI Horizon and Jeff Hays of the Phoenix office for Dallas-based Staubach Co., holder of ConAgra's national real estate account. Neither broker was available before press time for comment on the transaction.
In the past two years, ConAgra rejected three initial sale offers and one lease proposal for the five-building complex. Instead, ConAgra stripped out its equipment and piecemealed the industrial space to five tenants. Today's market has just 5,000 standing empty. The tenant roster consists of Total Air, 41,083 sf; Harvest Market, 24,418 sf; York Lancaster Monterrey Tile, 22,004 sf; Moore's Golf Cart Co., 14,273 sf; and ConAgra Grocery Products, 4,000 sf.
