The facility occupies a portion of an 80,000-sf third-phase building within the 300,000-sf, 50-acre Technology Centre of New Jersey, also being developed by the NJ EDA. "The Center features 800-sf labs that can be joined into units of as large as 3,200 sf," according to William D. Watley, secretary of the New Jersey Commerce and Economic Growth Commission, a development partner in the project.
Three high-tech start-ups already occupy a total of six of the 17 available units within the Center. They include Ortec International, a tissue-engineering company that has signed up for four units; Acxcess Bio, a developer, maker and marketer of in-vitro diagnostic tests; and Aeropharm Technology, which makes inhalation drug delivery systems.
Other tenants in The Technology Centre include Cambrex Corp., a life sciences company; Celgro Corp., the agrochemical subsidiary of Celgene Corp; Chubb Computer Services; Merial Limited, which produces pharma products for animals; and Rutgers University, which uses the facility for agricultural technology research.
