The cost of constructing the building, including AV equipment, was $126 per sf, compared with the metro average of about $135 per sf, Saunders says.

The facility houses the Arapahoe/Douglas Works!, the county assessor, county commissioners, human services and information services offices.

About 1,000 visitors enter the building daily. The building was constructed to accommodate foster parents with small children, families looking for financial aid and job training, senior citizens applying for tax relief, and business people meeting with community leaders.

A large meeting room attached to full kitchen is available to community groups and non-profit organizations.

The 30-year-old Saunders is based in Centennial, a new city along Denver's southeast corridor.
