Realm is rolling the headquarters and e-business development team into its 35,000-sf office at the Galleria North Tower II at 13727 Noel Rd. in North Dallas. The move starts in early August.
Don MacKinnon, Realm's president and CEO, said the move was undertaken to bring the whole team together. The Dallas office already houses sales and marketing, client services, customer support and product management. "With this final move, we will now have the balance of our leadership team in one location," he said, noting it the cost-effectiveness that naturally comes along with such a play.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Safety-Kleen Corp.'s headquarters also is headed to North Dallas from Columbia, SC. The firm is in the final stages of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filed June 9, 2000. The company is North America's largest handler of hazardous and industrial wastes. That move should be done by September, according to a published account.
Safety-Kleen has 60,000 sf for 600 of its 8,500 employees in Columbia. One company exec said the team is seeking less space than it has.
The move, though, comes at a time when the hauler is locked in a dispute with Laidlaw, which owns 44% of the company and is seeking to recover losses from disputes over financial reporting, according to Hoover's Online. Meanwhile chief rival, Clean Harbors is in the process of buying Safety-Kleen's chemical services operations.
