"The name change is in keeping with the growth and branding strategy taking place across the country," Gosin says. "Our new corporate identity reflects the unified image of all of our individual offices."
The firm's history in the Garden State dates back to 1920 when the old Jacobson Goldfarb and Tanzman was founded by Isadore Jacobson and Morris Goldfarb. In 1997, JGT restructured itself in the "law firm" model, with a half-dozen senior brokers elevated to partnerships. In 2001, JGT merged with the New York-based Newmark, which had its New Jersey office in Rutherford, and the combined firm became known as Newmark JGT. The company continues to maintain its New Jersey offices here and in Rutherford.
Earlier this year, Newmark New Jersey elevated senior executives Paul E. Giannone and William J. Cariste to managing principals, responsible for the firm's ongoing expansion strategy within the Garden State. And John J. Johnson joined the firm as managing director to assist with the overall operational duties.
Besides its New York and New Jersey offices, Newmark & C. Real Estate currently has offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Connecticut, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Long Island, Westchester County (NY), San Francisco, Southern California, Washington DC and London.
