The move is a relocation that comes at the expense of a facility in north suburban Lincolnshire, IL. Construction on the 17.13-acre site begins next month with completion expected in March.
"In preparing for this growth in the Midwest, we conducted an extensive site search and LakeView was first on the list," says Volkswagen of America director of parts operations Dale Hawke in a statement. "This location provides great access to major highways for serving our large customer base in the Midwest."
Other Volkswagen parts depots are located in Chicago, Ontario, CA; Jacksonville, FL; Cranbury, NJ; Fort Worth, TX; as well as two in Canada, outside Toronto and Vancouver.
WISPARK LLC was represented by David Bercu, David Liebman and David Kahnweiler of Colliers, Bennett & Kahnweiler. Volkswagen of America, Inc. was represented by a Trammell Crow team that included Rick Delisle, senior vice president Michael Carroll, vice president Tom Moffatt, project manager Jeff Anderson and real estate specialist Matt Underwood. Chad Navis and Gary Rosecrans, of WISPARK LLC, along with Matt Mullarkey of CenterPoint Properties are heading up the development team.
Navis tells GlobeSt.com 8 million sf has been built at the Kenosha County industrial park, with room for about 4 million sf of additional space. WISPARK LLC is Wisconsin Energy Corp.'s real estate development subsidiary. CenterPoint Venture LLC includes CalPERS and LaSalle Investment Management in addition to CenterPoint Properties Trust.
