Regardless of where the doughnut maker sets up shop, lines are sure to form for the opening weeks. Randy Willard, president and CEO of franchise holder Glazing Saddles Ltd. of Austin, says customers have been driving the distance to Austin, one of the reasons for making San Antonio the next stop in the development plan. As many as 120 jobs will be created with the rollout, according to Eduardo Tames, the San Antonio store manager. And, the franchisee is scouting the market for a second site that's ticketed to open in the coming year.

In addition to Willard, the Glazing Saddles partnership consists of Mike Young and John Zapp, founders of Chuy's-Comida Deluxe, and Roy Spence and Judy Trabulsi, principals of GSD&M Advertising.

Founded in 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. is a leading branded specialty retailer. There are more than 230 stores in 34 states and Canada.
