The original 31,400-sf building at the site, located in the Route One corridor, opened three years ago. Build-out of the corporate campus is expected to entail at least two additional phases, with work expected to begin within the next five years. While Miele U.S currently has a staff of 130 on-site, the new second phase increases employee capacity to 200, and build-out is expected to accommodate 600 employees and triple the existing space.

Design work for the ongoing project is being done by the architecture firm Michael Graves & Associates, also based in Princeton. According to Thomas P. Rowe, a principal in the firm, the original building "will house showroom and training facilities, while customer service and other administrative offices will move to the newer space. All of the buildings will be connected with the exception of a four-story parking deck.

"Miele wanted and encouraged a high quality and precise design," Rowe continues. "There was a great deal of care and precision to the aesthetic details, both inside and out."
