Trustees are expected to formally approve plans for an "upscale pub" that will offer a full menu and occasional live entertainment as well as a smaller space for a bakery.

The building is the smallest component of the $86-million Gateway Center both sides of the tracks used by Metra's northwest line trains. Construction of 280 multifamily units has begun on the southwest side of the tracks. Meanwhile, no further announcements have been forthcoming in the office space, other than Wheeling-based developer Joseph Freed & Associates' original commitment for 30,000 sf of the 100,000-sf building. Class-A vacancy rates in the northwest suburbs also have cracked the 20% mark before sublease space is added to the equation.
