The planning commission recommended that the San Diego City Council adopt the Strategic Framework Element after an 11-hour hearing in mid-August that marked a final step in the amendment's public process. The city council will now consider adoption of the amendment at a public hearing scheduled for September 23.

"This is just the beginning of a challenging period before us," says planning commission chairperson William Anderson. "The commission added several conditions to assure that the future villages are built with community input, help improve the infrastructure and facilities in communities and enhance community standards."
