Wyndham signed a 15-year franchise agreement with Fairmont Investments Inc., an overseas owner, for the re-flagging of the North Dallas hotel. The banner will change Oct. 1.
A 10-year franchise was OK'd by F.F. Hotels Inc. for the 220-room Hilton Inn North Little Rock Riverfront at 2 Riverfront Place in Little Rock, AR. The Wyndham flag will rise Dec. 1.
Wyndham also is converting two of its portfolio hotels that are franchised to competitors. The Hilton Columbus, a 177-room facility at 800 Front Ave., will make the change when a $4-million renovation is complete. The Wyndham sign will go up within 90 days, GlobeSt.com is told.
The 256-room Radisson Burlington at 60 Battery St. in Burlington, VT gets its new name Dec. 1. The hotelier, in taking over the branding, will be raising its first Wyndham flag in the Vermont market as is the case in Columbus, OH.
Fred J. Kleisner, Wyndham's CEO, said in a prepared statement that the Columbus and Burlington hotels "not only fits our strategy to grow distribution in new markets...but it also meets a core business goal to raise internal earnings by reducing franchise fees paid to competitors." A Wyndham contact, blocked by a confidentiality pact, was unable to discuss the financials of the franchise agreements, new or old, with GlobeSt.com, but did say that the hotelier has a policy of flanking its flag with a one-mile barrier from another like-branded facility--an issue reportedly behind the re-flagging of the North Dallas property that had several chains vying for the branding right.
