The 350,000-sf Pavilions anchor tenants include a United Artists movie theatre, a Hard Rock Café, Maggianos Little Italy restaurant, a Barnes & Noble and the last Niketown built in the US.

More than 33,000 people a day visit the Denver Pavilions, according to the first pedestrian count conducted by the center.

The Kiwanis Club, which has been performing counts for the Downtown Denver Partnership for seven years, conducted the Denver Pavilions pedestrian count from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. last month.

September was picked for the count because it is an average month for sales so Pavilions management assumed that the count would represent a typical pedestrian level.

"The count shows that there is steady traffic throughout the day, which is another surprise for us," Cantwell says.

The count results notes there were "gentle peaks" at 11:30 AM, 1 p.m., 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Cantwell notes the steady stream of customers arrive through all access points fairly evenly. Because there are nine entry points, she was surprised that the count was so evenly distributed between all of them.

Potential tenants and event sponsors often ask for pedestrian counts when considering the Denver Pavilions, according to Cantwell, which is why she ordered the study.

"The count will become part of the statistics that we use to describe our property and provides us with valuable information to market the Pavilions," she says.
