The Portland Bureau of Planning will present to the public next week the results of an advisory group study examining preservation techniques and incentives for historic resources. The event takes place Oct. 23 and the comments received will then be presented to the City Council when it considers these topics at a public hearing on December 11.

Composed of members of the preservation and development communities, the advisory group looked at incentives such as tax credits and relaxed building codes to promote preservation and rehabilitation of historic resources. The Advisory Group also looked at ways to better protect Portland's historic resources through demolition review, a proposed process whereby may approve or deny a demolition request that affects an historic property.

Questions or comments about the event should be directed to the bureau's Cielo Lutino, (503) 823-6879.
