"We wanted to get to the Boston area for a long while," Claire D'Amour Daley, the company's vice president of corporate communications, tells GlobeSt.com. "We were waiting for the right location." This would be the Springfield, MA-based chain's 50th store and its first, notes Daley, east of Worcester County. The company's other stores are centered in Western Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Daley emphasizes that this area was chosen because of its population growth and it's demographic as a suburban market. She insists that the company is not deterred by the local competition. Stop & Shop, Shaw's and Roche Bros. all have stores in the area.

"We are familiar with what's out there," she points out. "We've coexisted in other markets for years and years. We tend to just focus on the food, which is what we do best." The company anticipates that the store will open this spring.
