A representative of the Roseland, New Jersey-based developer tells GlobeSt.com that this property will not be considered an expansion of the outlet center. She says that the company is ultimately interested in selling the site to be used as "complementary" retail. She adds that the company does not have a buyer yet.

According to Cindy Thompson, Wrentham's town clerk, the site is currently vacant and has been owned by the company since it acquired the land to develop the outlet mall. This is the second time it is trying to build a shopping center on the property. Its first proposal involved an 85,000-sf complex but that was subsequently withdrawn.

This plan includes two restaurants, two retail stores and one retail/restaurant store. The retail stores will be 24,000 sf and 15, 235 sf. One restaurant will be 6,276 sf while the other will be 3,975 sf. The combination restaurant will be a 3,200-sf retail store with a 6,800-sf restaurant. The plan also includes a 470-car parking lot as well as a 58-car employee parking lot.

Thompson points out that the town is asking for a traffic impact study before the project can move forward. She notes that there is concern that a traffic light might be required just before the outlet's ring road with this additional center. The second public hearing on the project will be held within the next few weeks.
