In a unanimous balloting, the new board members are Michael Berens, co-chairman of the Arizona BioIndustry Cluster; Brian C. Hageman, chairman of the Arizona Environmental Technology Industries Cluster; and Dave L. Larson, chairman of the Arizona Plastics & Advanced Composite Materials Cluster.
Berens is vice president of research for Translational GenomicsResearch Institute and also the founder, president and CEO of CreativeScientific Methods, Inc. He also is the co-founder and chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of AVOLIX Pharmaceuticals Inc. and the former director of the Division of Neurology Research for the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center.
Hageman is founder, CEO and president of Deluge Inc. and the inventor of the new thermal hydraulic engine technology. He has served in positions at Bechtel Power Corp. and Fluor-Daniels Corp. and has done project management work on five of the largest nuclear-powered electric generating stations in the US. Hageman also serves as chairman of the energy committee of the Arizona Association of Industries and is listed in Who's Who of Science and Engineering for his achievements in physics.
Larson is the owner of AZ Sign & Graphics Inc. and has 30 years' experience in the manufacturing and engineering industries, including the management of two plant start-ups in Florida and New York. Prior to establishing AZ Sign & Graphics, Larson was vice president and COO at Mastercraft Cos. He also serves as chairman of the Arizona Steering Committee for SPI.
