The Regal eight-screen theater closed two years ago. Moorpark Club Partners will convert the space into an athletic club to be called Maverick's, Seaton says. The new club is slated to open in the spring in Mission Bell, which is a neighborhood center anchored by an Albertsons supermarket on the main thoroughfare in Moorpark. The new club will be one of the latest transformations of movie theaters in Southern California, where several in recent years have been converted to churches and other uses.
