In addition to increasing the room total, Boykin Lodging's renovation included a makeover of the lobby. Work was done by James McHugh Construction Co. and The John Hardy Group, with Robert C. Vagnieres Jr. & Associates doing the architectural work.

The project came at a cost on top of the $20.1-million investment, however. Boykin Lodging reports it had lost 38,600 room nights through the third quarter.

The project was one of several at Boykin Lodging Properties. A Marriott in Buffalo, NY as well as Doubletrees in Omaha, NE and Sacramento, CA also saw refurbishments, according to the company's most recent quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
