Yamaha Motor Corp., USA expects to consolidate operations now in the Milwaukee suburb of Cudahy, WI as well as Minneapolis when the building is ready for occupancy in 2003. The company will use the building as a parts warehouse for all product lines.
"Our principal target market has always been south of here," notes WISPARK LLC regional director Todd J. Rizzo. However, Yamaha Motor Corp., USA could not find a facility closer to Milwaukee that met its needs, he tells GlobeSt.com.
"They didn't have time to do a build-to-suit," he adds. "It just made more sense to come here."
Volkswagen of America, Inc. is scheduled to move its parts distribution operations to a 250,000-sf building expected to be completed in 60 to 90 days, Rizzo says.
LakeView Corporate Park is a development of WISPARK LLC, the real estate development subsidiary of Wisconsin Energy Corp. Rizzo reports there is a 144,000-sf building available for lease in the development that now contains about 8 million sf. There is room for approximately 4 million sf of additional development.
"The fact that WISPARK had a new and modern industrial building ready to go that allowed for our customized improvements, as well as the attractive economics, were large factors in our decision to move to LakeView," says Yamaha Motor Corp., USA senior operations manager Robert Pearce in a statement.
David Bercu and David Liebman, of Colliers, Bennett & Kahnweiler represented WISPARK LLC with Rizzo. Brendan Kelly and Vince Manchee of Cushman & Wakefield's Chicago office represented Yamaha Motor Corp., USA.
