The program, Resident Awards, will be incorporated into RealPage's OneSite products suite. "Most property owners and managers will agree that the worst two words heard lately in the multifamily industry are 'free rent," Steve Winn, RealPage's CEO, said in a prepared statement. "Yet, rental concessions have become a prolific tool for generating leases, encouraging renewals and maintaining occupancy rates. Resident Awards provides an alternative to higher and higher concessions."

Under the program, award points are accumulated for airline mile redemption or buying products through the use of point cards, available in various denominations. In turn, they can be awarded to residents for new leases, renewals and even referrals.

Not only did RealPage get the program, but it got the company's principal, Brock MacLean, who was named vice president of sales for OneSite property marketing systems, a specialized tool for property managers. MacLean said Resident Awards targets branding much in the same way that the point redemption system did for airlines, hotels and rental cars.
