Charles E. Batchelder, senior vice president of R.M. Bradley, represented the owner, Hobbs Brook Management, in the transaction, while Greg Klemmer of Klemmer Associates and Ness Hamaoui of Cushman & Wakefield represented Metcalf & Eddy. The newly constructed 160,000-sf building will be available for occupancy in June. It is located right off Route 128 and features dining facilities, shower facilities and on-site management and security.
Metcalf & Eddy is an Aecom Company and has more than 750 employees in offices around the world. Donald Oldmixon, vice president of construction and leasing at Hobbs Brook Management emphasizes that his company was "thrilled" to have such a large space leased to a solid company.
In a market that continues to struggle with high vacancy rates, his pleasure is understandable. According to Trammel Crow Co.'s most recent statistics, 370,176 sf of Wakefield's 1.7 million sf of office space is available. The city's 21.6% overall vacancy rate has barely changed from last January when it was at 21.3%.
