The 621-acre, $54.5-million Burlington Northern Santa Fe intermodal facility, which opened this past year, is the hub of the CenterPoint Intermodal Center in southwest suburban Elwood, IL. The surrounding area is being developed into a $1-billion industrial park that could include retail and hotel development.
In addition, CenterPoint Properties Trust is managing construction of a $181-million, 1,230-acre intermodal facility in far west suburban Rochelle, IL, for the Union Pacific Railroad.
Both projects are on time and on budget, Mullen says. The Union Pacific's intermodal facility is scheduled to open in this fall 2003.
