The MEDC received first place or gold awards in the categories of StatewideEconomic Development Strategy, Targeted Economic Development Initiative -(Life Sciences Corridor), Corporate Citizenship - (General Motors'investment in the Renaissance Center area) and Workforce TrainingInitiatives/Special Programs - (Michigan Technical Education Centers).
"These awards are a testament to the MEDC's record of economic development success," said Governor Jennifer M. Granholm. "Current MEDC board member David Hollister will be instrumental in helping to build on that past track record of accomplishments."
The MEDC is the only state association in the award's history to receivefour gold awards, according to the magazine's editors.
The award judges consisted of a panel of corporate real estate executives, CEOs, presidents and vice presidents, as well as noted economic development and site selection consultants with expertise in both private and public economic development.
The judges ultimately selected 19 winners in nine categories.
